Lansing Surgical Associates, PLLC is a group of four highly skilled general surgeons, Jeffrey Deppen, D.O.,FACOS, Troy Ferguson, D.O.,FACOS, Werner Henning, D.O., and Mark Jones, D.O.,FACOS, who have a total combined years of surgical experience of over 65 years.

Our staff have dedicated their combined total 150 years of education and work experience in the medical field to ensuring each of our patients has an informed and compassionate experience for whatever their surgical needs may be.

Our mission is to provide a professional, positive and respectful experience for every interaction we have with every patient, every medical provider and every co-worker.

Jeffrey Deppen | DO, FACOS

Accepting New Patients
Dr. Deppen obtained his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and General Surgery residency at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. He is Board Certified in General Surgery and has been practicing in the Lansing area since 2005. Dr. Deppen is Chairman of the Department of Surgery at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital.

Troy Ferguson | DO, FACOS

Accepting New Patients
Dr. Ferguson graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his General Surgery Residency program at McLaren Greater Lansing in 2013 and is Board Certified in General Surgery. Dr. Ferguson is involved in the breast clinic at McLaren Greater Lansing and is Director of the Breast Clinic at Sparrow Eaton Hospital. His expertise with sports hernias has allowed him to treat several high profile professionals in the sporting arena. He is a former MSU hockey player.

Mark Jones | DO, FACOS

Retired from this office

Dr. Jones graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Memorial Hospital in York, PA and his surgical residency at Doctors Hospital of Stark County, Massillon, OH. Dr. Jones is Board Certified in General Surgery and has been practicing in the Lansing area since 1989. He is also Director of McLaren’s Wound Clinic and is Hyperbaric trained as well as the General Surgery Resident Director.

Werner Henning | DO

Accepting New Patients

Dr. Henning obtained his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed his General Surgery residency at McLaren Greater Lansing in 2020 and is Board Certified in General Surgery. During his residency he implemented an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery program at McLaren, which is now broadly implemented across all general surgery, colorectal, urological, and gynecologic procedures. He and his wife Emily have come to love Michigan, and enjoy serving their local community.

Sue | Practice Manager

Sue completed her bachelor’s degree in 2005 in Business Management from Davenport University. After retiring from 20 years in the insurance industry, she obtained her Clinical Medical Assistant certification and has worked as a medical biller and practice manager specializing in surgical offices. She joined Lansing Surgical Associates in May 2021 as the Practice Manager and states “I enjoy every single day with my work family”. When not at work, she spends her time with her son and grandchildren or with her two black labs, Charlie and Gracie.

Margie | Medical Assistant

Margie joined the office in April 2021. Although new to the medical field, she has worked in the administration and reception role for several years. She holds two Bachelor degrees from Michigan State University in Communications and Spanish Linguistics, which serves as a great asset to our office. Margie truly believes in providing a warm smile and welcoming experience to all who meet and speak with her.

Tina | Scheduling Specialist

Tina states she “has been blessed” to have been with Lansing Surgical Associates for over 5 years as a Medical Assistant. Previously she worked 9 years as a receptionist/medical assistant for a primary care office. With every patient contact, Tina strives to provide comfort and compassion. When Tina is not at work, she enjoys relaxing with her children, grandchildren and friends.

Melissa | Medical Assistant

Melissa joined LSA as a Medical Assistant with a total of 27 years in the medical industry which includes primary care, orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynecology, ENT & immunology, breast cancer and general surgery. She proves every day her professionalism with her genuine compassion for helping patients calm their fears in what can be a scary process. Melissa states “being a part of LSA has allowed me to maintain a strong work ethic within a professional & compassionate environment among some amazing people”. Her spare time is spent enjoying her family, her dogs, friends and the great outdoors.

Lindsay | Administrative Assistant

Lindsay has been with the practice since 2005 in multiple positions and is a proven asset with her vast knowledge of our office. While working full time, she also earned diplomas in Billing and Coding from Davenport University. Lindsay enjoys her position and her ability to go the extra step to help a patient or co-worker whenever possible.
